Bio
I was raised and educated in Vermont, studied English, philosophy, German and biology at the University of Vermont, and pursued music and writing before finally taking up art in 2005. In 2008 and 2009 I attended Academie Minerva in Groningen, Holland. Now I live and work in Reading, Vermont.
Statement
As we understand more and more aspects of civilization to be in need of change, we recognize that what's imperative is transformation of our underlying thinking...about everything. Art is useful toward this end, because it bypasses the bureaucratic web of language-based consciousness. But it is more useful when it has no "end."
Unspeakable events are free to manifest in my painting (as well as the speakable ones). I am trying to capture what is only glimpsed in the corner of the eye, and I am trying to create from the same cutting wave as the ever forward-moving present. I do this for the same reason as a surfer who finds that the best way to navigate precarious waves is standing on a surfboard. The narratives arise only in the wake of creation, which is often destructive. What we focus on, grows, and what we can imagine will become our future.
Charitable sales model
A percentage of all art sales is forwarded to one of three charities of the buyer's selection: 40% if the sale is direct from the artist. If a gallery brokers the sale, percentage will be negotiated.
